MY STORY
Rayven Jae was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and resides in Manhattan. She went to NYU Tisch School of the Arts for theatre but realized she wanted to study something more meaningful.
Due to her time in foster care from ages 17-21, Rayven desired to have a career where she could help vulnerable populations, especially children and teenagers. This desire prompted her to transfer from NYU to Hunter College, where she received her Bachelor’s in Social Work from the Silberman School of Social Work. During her time at Hunter, she fell in love with dance and has never looked back. Dance has given her a space to be creative, express her emotions, and be free.
She is trying to bridge the gap between her two loves: dance and helping people. Rayven is currently looking into Dance Therapy, the psychotherapeutic use of movement and dance to help support intellectual, emotional, and physical healing.
